A 14-year-old youth made a court appearance in provincial court this week in connection with a swatting incident. “Swatting” is the practice of making a false report to police which then results in either emergency services teams or a special weapons and tactics team to be deployed to a specific address. On Sept. 19, the Regina Police Service received a call of a firearms related incident in southwest Regina. The tactical support unit was dispatched, only to find out there was no threat as initially reported to police. Nobody was seriously harmed during the incident. The youth is scheduled to make their next appearance in court on Jan. 14, 2025.
