Coronach/Bengough RCMP are investigating after a SaskPower power pole was stolen from a rural farm property on Jan. 27. Police say the theft occurred around 9:30 a.m., when unknown individuals cut down a live power pole connected to a transformer. The outage disrupted electricity in the area for about two hours while SaskPower crews worked to restore service. Investigators believe the pole was dragged through the farmyard into a nearby field and may have been loaded onto a vehicle, as it has not been recovered. Cst. Gary Christopher warned the theft posed serious safety risks. “An abandoned rural property does not necessarily mean utilities are shut down. Severe injury or death may occur,” he said. “With winter conditions, actions like this put both residents and work crews at risk.” Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Coronach/Bengough RCMP.
