Saskatchewan is set to be hit by not one, but two storm systems as winter returns following an extended period of mild weather. A large system from Alberta is forecast to bring 25 to 35 centimetres of snow to parts of the province, while a Montana low is expected to produce freezing rain, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says. 4:20 PMECCC warns that a Montana low is slated to bring periods of freezing rain to certain regions of southeast Saskatchewan and southwest Manitoba. The freezing rain is expected to transition to snow by Tuesday evening. 3:40 PMA blowing snow advisory is issued for majority of the province’s southern and central regions. ECCC warns of strong easterly winds, with gusts of up to 80 km/h, drastically reducing visibility before slowly diminishing Tuesday evening. 3:30 PMAn orange snowfall warning is issued for an area stretching from Meadow Lake and down to Estevan. Within this area, snowfall accumulations are likely to be in the 25 to 35cm range by Thursday morning. The snowfall is expected to taper off through Wednesday night.
