A 19-year-old girl is dead after a serious crash near the intersection of Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street in Regina. According to the city’s police service, officers were called to the area at around noon on Sunday after a person was reportedly struck by a vehicle. An investigation revealed that a freight truck left the road and struck a light post and bus shelter. The 19-year-old victim was inside the shelter when it was struck. Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The area surrounding Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Streety was closed for several hours on Sunday as investigators worked at the scene. As of 5 p.m., the area has been reopened for traffic.
