A 20-year-old man is in custody after allegedly committed an armed robbery in Moose Jaw Saturday evening. At around 9:40 p.m. on June 7, officers with the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) responded to a reported armed robbery in progress on the 500 block of 1st Ave NW. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. However, a search of the area immediately began, and officers quickly found a man who matched the suspect’s description. He was arrested without incident and a “bladed weapon” was recovered through a search. MJPS says through an investigation, officers determined that a man entered a business carrying the weapon and attempted to assault another person. The 20-year-old suspect faces one count of robbery, assault with a weapon and wearing a disguise. The accused is set to make his first appearance in Moose Jaw provincial court on June 9.
