The Saskatchewan RCMP says a teenage girl has been arrested and charged with failing to stop at an accident causing death following a fatal collision with a pedestrian on Highway 11 near MacDowall. An RCMP news release on Thursday said that police located a black Jeep that was believed to be involved in the fatal collision Wednesday on the Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation. RCMP said the girl was arrested shortly after officers located the vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert provincial court on June 18. The man killed in the collision has been identified and is not a Canadian citizen. RCMP said efforts are underway to notify his family and no further details about him can be provided. Police were called to the scene on Highway 11 just south of the turn-off to MacDowall around 2:15 Tuesday morning. They found the man’s body when they arrived and began to investigate the incident as a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision. The southbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed near the scene of the collision and were reopened later on Tuesday. MacDowall, Sask. is about 113 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
