Regina police confirmed they are conducting a death investigation Thursday morning after closing a portion of Victoria Avenue east of downtown. Police and EMS were called to the 800 block of Victoria Avenue around 5:30 a.m. where a man was found injured before being pronounced dead a short time later, Regina police said in a news release. Police closed the east and west-bound lanes of Victoria Avenue between Broder Street and Winnipeg Street and were asking people to avoid the area. Officers also specifically blocked off the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Wallace Street with the Forensic Identification Unit on the scene. Regina police provided an update at 10:30 a.m. indicating that the east and west-bound lanes of Victoria Avenue were once again open to vehicles and pedestrians. “Motorists and pedestrians can continue on their usual routes,” Regina police said on its X account. Police said the victim’s name will not be released at this time, adding that at this point in the investigation no further details will be made available to the public. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
