A privately owned single-engine aircraft declared an emergency while approaching Regina International Airport (YQR) earlier this afternoon. Just after 1 p.m., the aircraft declared an emergency while approaching YQR. The plane made a safe landing on runway 0826 with no injuries, damage or incidents reported. YQR President James Bogusz told CTV News airport firefighters were on standby posture during the incident, meaning crews were positioned and ready on the airfield if their help was needed. “In this case we had our emergency teams ready just on the chance that something more was necessary. We’re thankful this one was a non-event in the end, and the plane did land without incident,” he said. There was no threat to the public at any point during the incident and airport operations remained normal throughout the response, Bogusz added.
